Colombo Sri Lanka

the garden city of the East

Colombo sketch 2v

The garden city of the East, the city has still become one of Sri Lanka’s top tourist attractions. It’s no longer just a massive metropolis you have to get through on the route to the beaches; instead, it’s a fantastic starting or ending point for your travels across Sri Lanka. Colombo’s urban core continues to attract hip cafes, art galleries, and boutiques. It’s full of pleasant surprises; for example, you may find excellent regional cuisine, unique stores, and cozy cafés if you just look around a bit.

Most visitors to Sri Lanka will arrive in Colombo, but you shouldn’t miss the chance to explore this fascinating metropolis. We recommend taking a train journey along the coast to Mount Lavinia, a popular beach, or visiting the Talangama Wetland as a relaxing escape from the city.

Explore Colombo, a delightful combination of old and new, on a full-day tour that includes the National Museum, Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo Fort, Independence Square, Galle Face Green, and more, before concluding with some classic Colombo shopping. Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital, is the beating heart of our island, offering a diverse range of cultural, shopping, and dining options.

The Seema Malaka and neighboring Gangaramaya Temples are located in the picturesque Beira Lake in the city’s heart, against the backdrop of Colombo’s rising contemporary architecture. The National Museum, a recreated colonial governor’s mansion next to the lovely Viharamahadevi Park and the historic Independence Square, is the best site to step back in time. The Arcade Independence Square is a refurbished colonial edifice adjacent to this well-known landmark that currently houses a range of trendy shops and fine dining establishments. A similar adventure may be found at the Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, which was once a hospital.
